Asparagus has only 20 calories per 100 grams, or about 27 calories per cup. However, eating straight asparagus has a bitter taste. My family usually fixes that up with a LOT of butter, but I found a better substitution:

1 teaspoon of olive oil (50 cal)
1 teaspoon of lemon juice (3 cal)
    1 pound (450g) of asparagus (90 cal)
optional: 1/2 teaspoon lemon rinds, 1/4 teaspoon if dried lemon rinds
optional: some parmesan cheese, to taste

Total: ~150 calories for the whole recipe, and it serves about 4-6 people.

You can probably also put any seasonings you like too, and salt.

I basically throw all the ingredients together in a microwave-safe bowl. microwave 5 minutes, stir. microwave 4 minutes. Done. Be careful adding too much lemon juice since it can turn everything very sour.

I've also had a version with yellow bell pepper mixed in, and it tasted really good. You can probably try it with other vegetables, too.
